Weedwacker Toothbrush Invention – A Fun Concept Exploration

Due to their common hygienic benefits, toothbrushes are a stably purchased item across the world. But it is time for a change. These toothbrushes are either electric (expensive and need head replacements) or analog (non-durable and wasteful). That can be changed with the innovative new weedwacker toothbrush!

What is a Weedwacker Toothbrush?

Despite the hilarious and obviously real, non-AI-generated feature image, this amazing idea has not yet been developed or modeled! Here is the concept:

  • Toothbrushes are wasteful! You need to either replace the head or entire item approximately 3 months. And that is if it is still clean, in tact, and if you have not been sick.
    • So even in the perfect scenario, where bristles are always fresh and effective for a full 3 months, a person still goes through 4 plastic sticks per year.
  • 4 plastic sticks per year per person is a ton of plastic saved. I also replace toothbrush heads monthly. I bring a new one on each work trip, so this number may be much higher in reality.
  • We can reduce the waste and need for regular toothbrush purchases if they were more reusable.
  • Similar to how weedwacker wire can be pulled out further as needed, the handle of a toothbrush could hold clean bristles. These could then be chopped off when they wear out, the chassis can be cleaned, and the new bristles can be exposed.
    • This will lead to fewer plastic molds being thrown away, fewer trips to the store, and a more reasonable replacement solution as you just need to buy new bristles to slot into the toothbrush.

Time to come down to earth… This is likely not a world changing idea, but it is a fun concept to explore! I love the idea of merging existing products and developing/innovating on manual toothbrushes that have not changed in a long while.
